Rotalac Plastics Acquisition Complete
MBO Secures Commitment to North West
Following the completed acquisition of Rotalac Plastics Ltd from BI Group PLC, the Company announces that all manufacturing operations will continue to be based in Manchester, with further investment planned over the next 12 months. Len Timmins, Managing Director, and Iain Willis, Financial Director, initially acquired a majority share in the Rotalac business in January 2004 and the full acquisition was completed on 1 July 2005.
Commenting on the rationale behind the acquisition, Len Timmins says "Iain and I immediately saw great potential in the Rotalac business with a dedicated and skilled workforce, manufacturing specialised products with truly global appeal. This provides many opportunities for further expansion, especially on the export side of the business."
The main manufacturing operations, comprising plastic extrusion, shutter system production and plastic injection moulding, are currently housed in Altrincham, Manchester. The management team is planning investment in new products and facilities. As Iain Willis explains "Rotalac is in a strong position at the moment in terms of our market share and our ability to react quickly to new business opportunities, such as the export of shutter systems to the US, and the growing DIY market."
"Investment in steel rolling facilities has given us the capability in house to manufacture the majority of the components for our steel shutter systems. Combined with the technical knowledge of our dedicated and experienced team this puts us in a fairly unique position and means we can develop bespoke shutter system solutions for many environments - from offices, to kitchens right through to security for industrial premises. It's certainly an exciting time to be taking the Rotalac name into a new era, and we are delighted we are now in a position to affirm our commitment to keeping the business firmly rooted where it belongs - in the North West."
